OB/GYN physicians specialize in the medical care of women, regardless of age. They have specialized training in obstetrics, which includes pre-conception (before pregnancy), pregnancy, labor and delivery and postpartum (after pregnancy).
An OB/GYN is also trained in gynecology or general women’s health. This encompasses care of the reproductive organs, breasts, and sexual functions. It also includes management of hormonal disorders, treatment of infections, and training in various surgical procedures.
In addition, preventive health care, infertility, surgery, ultrasounds and education are all part of an OB/GYN practice
